THE NETHERLANDS, A FISH NATION
The Netherlands has a long tradition as a fishing, fish trading and fish processing nation. The trade in fish has its roots in the Middle Ages, when it became the cornerstone of the Dutch wealth. Nowadays the Dutch fleet supplies the ten fish auctions in our country with fresh fish every day. A worldwide renowned production of crustaceans and a growing fish farming industry completes the total supply. 

WHERE TRADITION MEETS INNOVATION
The Netherlands is a major player in fish processing. There are about 300 companies specialized in fish processing in our country. The processing of flatfish and typical Dutch ‘treats’ like herring and crustaceans, take up about half of the total revenue. The industry pays a lot of attention to product quality and maintaining the highest possible standards. 

The Dutch seafood industry is renowned for its high-quality products and the high level of innovations. An industry to be proud of!
